RESEARCH
For inspiration I created a moodboard that includes different kinds of packaging that shows part of the item, red pepper illustrations or branding, and different color scheme inspiration. After looking at these references I decided to design a band with a handle to hold both the top and bottom of the bowl. That way the fun shape and color of the bowl would be showcased.
ITERATIONS
During my research I didn’t find an existing branding for the bowl, therefore I decided to design its whole branding. I wanted something fun and expressive to go with the pepper shape bowl. I brainstormed two names “Spice Haven” and “Powl (Pepper + Bowl) and two color schemes. Since my initial idea was to showcase the shape of the bowl I wanted to include cutouts on the sides of it to make the color of the bowl part of the packaging.
FINAL BRANDING
For the final branding I decided to use the green color scheme for higher contrast. I chose Powl to be the name because it’s playful, short, and would work if this was made into a series of bell pepper bowls. I chose an expressive display typeface for the name and to tagline. I believe the green would go well with the top of the bell pepper and red. I used illustration to make it feel more homey since a serving bowl is for sharing time with friends and family.
DIELINE
The band holds the bowl itself and includes a handle. On the outside it has the logo name on both sides and two different body copy. The tagline “Dip, you dip, we dip!” is surrounded by triangle cutouts that are a reference for chips and that will also show the red of the bowl. Once someone would rip off the band they will find the illustration on the inside along with a recipe.
